The Brussels Institute for Geopolitics (or BIG) exists to help Europe get in shape for the new era of great power politics. It is the first and only think-tank in Brussels wholly dedicated to geopolitics and strategy. Founded in 2022 with the backing of several EU leaders, the institute works closely with decision makers from the public and private sector. It combines an intimate knowledge of the EU with an understanding of the deeper historic and cultural shifts shaping Europe. By bringing together thought leaders from politics, business and civil society, BIG aims to foster a true strategic culture for the European Union.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join our team as a Communications Trainee in March.
Overview of Role
This position offers a dynamic opportunity for recent graduates to gain experience in a rapidly growing think-tank, where she or he will have the opportunity to work with colleagues and under the supervision of the Head of Communications to create and implement events and produce targeted communication campaigns. The successful candidate will play an important role in the institute’s outreach and engagement through event organization and the creative use of social media. She or he will have a keen interest in European policy, excellent communication skills, and a passion for creating engaging content.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in organizing events in line with the Institute’s strategic goals.
- Manage and update the think-tank’s website and social media channels (X, LinkedIn, Bluesky, etc.).
- Assist in the development and execution of communication strategies and campaigns to promote the think-tank’s research and events.
- Provide operational and administrative support as needed to support the think-tank’s activities.
Qualifications
- Education: A university degree in Communications, Political Science, International Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
- Language Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in another language is considered an asset.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of EU politics, institutions and current affairs.
- Skills: Proficiency in the use of social media platforms and competency in IT skills. Strong time management and organizational skills. Creativity and an ability to think outside the box.
